Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all guests visiting The Great White House Restaurant. By making a reservation, dining with us, or using our facilities, you agree to the terms below.

Operating Hours

  • Kitchen closes at 21:00
  • Restaurant closes at 22:00
  • Operating hours may vary during the winter season
  • Guests are encouraged to contact the restaurant in advance to confirm dinner service
  • Last orders may be taken before closing at management’s discretion

Restaurant Reservations

  • Reservations are recommended, especially during weekends, public holidays, and peak seasons
  • Tables are held for 15 minutes after the confirmed reservation time unless prior arrangements have been made
  • The restaurant reserves the right to amend or cancel bookings due to unforeseen circumstances, including power outages, staff illness, or events beyond our control

Group Bookings, Deposits & Cancellation Policy

  • Group bookings of 20 guests or more may require a deposit
  • Deposits are deducted from the final bill on the day of the booking
  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the booking may result in forfeiture of the deposit
  • Significant reductions in group size must be communicated at least 24 hours in advance
  • Final guest numbers must be confirmed at least 24 hours prior to the booking
  • No-shows may be charged in full or up to the value of the deposit, at management’s discretion

Service Policy

  • No outside food or beverages are permitted unless pre-arranged with management
  • Corkage and cakeage fees apply per bottle or item
  • Fees are subject to change and available on request

Allergies & Dietary Requirements

  • Guests must inform their server of any allergies or dietary requirements before ordering
  • While every effort is made to accommodate special dietary needs, the kitchen cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment
  • Guests dine at their own risk, and the restaurant accepts no liability for adverse allergic reactions

Payment Methods

  • Cash, debit cards, and major credit cards accepted
  • Diners Club cards are not accepted
  • Menu prices are subject to change without prior notice
  • A discretionary service charge may apply to group tables

Guest Behaviour & Conduct

  • The restaurant reserves the right to refuse service or request guests to leave due to inappropriate, disruptive, or abusive behaviour
  • Harassment or abuse of staff or other guests will not be tolerated
  • Children must be supervised at all times for safety and comfort reasons

Property, Safety & Liability Disclaimer

  • Guests enter the premises at their own risk
  • The restaurant, its owners, and staff shall not be held liable for loss, injury, damage, or death, except where required by law or in cases of gross negligence
  • Personal belongings remain the responsibility of the guest
  • Certain areas are restricted to staff only for safety reasons

Smoking Policy

  • Smoking and vaping are permitted only in designated outdoor areas in accordance with local regulations

Promotions, Vouchers & Discounts

  • Promotions, vouchers, and discounts may not be combined unless stated otherwise
  • Offers are subject to availability and may be amended or withdrawn at any time
  • Vouchers are non-transferable and may be subject to expiry dates

Pet-Friendly Policy (Outdoor Seating Only)

  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome in designated outdoor seating areas
  • Dogs must be socialised and comfortable around children and other pets
  • Pets must remain on a leash and under owner control at all times
  • Pets are not permitted on chairs, benches, or tables
  • Aggressive or disruptive pets may be asked to leave
  • Pets are not permitted inside the restaurant, except for certified service animals

Alcohol Policy

  • In accordance with South African law, no alcohol will be served to persons under 18 years of age
  • Valid identification may be requested

Parking Area Terms & Conditions

Parking Use

  • Parking is provided for customer convenience
  • Parking is at the driver’s own risk

Parking Liability

  • The restaurant and property owners accept no responsibility for theft, loss, or damage to vehicles or belongings
  • This includes damage caused by weather, third parties, or other vehicles

Security

  • The presence of cameras, lighting, or security personnel does not guarantee safety

Parking Rules

  • Parking is for short-term use only
  • Vehicles must park within designated bays
  • Only light motor vehicles are permitted unless otherwise stated
  • Drivers are liable for damage caused to property or signage

Pedestrian Safety

  • Pedestrians have right of way at all times
  • Speed limits and road markings must be obeyed

Prohibited Activities

  • No vehicle repairs, washing, sleeping, trading, or loitering
  • Abandoned or unroadworthy vehicles are not permitted

Right of Admission

  • Management reserves the right to restrict access or remove vehicles in violation of these terms, in accordance with applicable laws

Force Majeure

  • The restaurant shall not be held liable for failure to meet obligations due to events beyond its reasonable control, including load shedding, extreme weather, government regulations, or acts of God

Governing Law

  • These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa
